First 2017 Inspection
By me on February 23, 2017
Spring seems to have come early this year! Today was 73 degrees, providing the perfect opportunity to inspect the hive. Upon opening the hive I found that the candy I had placed on top was nearly 100% consumed, although there was some honey remaining in the frames.
I had expected to see some brood, however, I was surprised to see a couple of frames nearly full of brood, minus some remaining honey. The bees seem to be doing quite well.
Not much was happening within the bottom box. I noticed a few eggs, some liquid in other comb cells, and pollen. I decided to reverse the boxes to try to prevent swarming and encourage more egg laying. I did not see any signs of swarm preparation.
